RLE Curriculum Style

We have a bilingual, multicultural, and inclusive curriculum that encourages learning through play, art, language, music, S.T.E.M. (science, technology, engineering, and math), outside exploration, animal husbandry, and socialization. Children do not follow a scripted curriculum. They are free to explore the environment and materials offered.

Through explorations of materials, children can express their ideas and demonstrate what they know and what they are learning. Children learn best when they are engaged and when what they are doing is meaningful to them. Our curriculum grows from the children’s interests while encouraging socio-emotional, physical, and cognitive development.

Each one of our Lil’ Explorers are considered to be unique and special. They are allowed to learn, grow, and develop at their own pace.

Why is play important?

Play encourages children's brain development. It allows children to use their senses and promotes exploration and curiosity. Children learn to think creatively by using their imaginations and pretending, develop critical thinking skills through problem-solving, learn about cause and effect, and build memory skills.

The links below will offer more information on how play is so beneficial to children from the NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) and Child Action (English) (Spanish).
